Re-up

It has been confirmed that I am qualified (age, years of previous service,  category of discharge) to enlist again.  I served active duty and had an honorable discharge and my age is within the range.  Think I should re-up .

It doesn't really matter what we think, Jack. It's what you think that matters. You know which way to point the rifle and how you're just a number on a vast canvas. Mental health might be a problem. The army channels adrenalin and rage. But older combantants know it's really bullshit. You have conservative values (mine are far more left-wing) which fits in with the US hegemonic view of the world, but as we get older we know that's bullshit of the King and Country club. If you joined up, like my pal Meeksy, who did a 20 in the British Army, came out for a few years and re-enlisted, you'd snap right into place. But it'd be a different place. A different time. A different you. We all become nostalgic for a past that didn't really exist. It's the staple of millions of books and films. But we never step into the same river twice. Meeksy didn't last long in the army when he re-enlisted. He's out and about now. Still the same arsehole like I tend to be.

Saw a recruiter and he set me up with an appointment with MEPS. I don't have any delusions about being accepted.  Probably I won't make it past my medical history since my discharge.  I want to see how far I can go.  Appreciate your input
