About a year ago I posted my first story on ABC Tales. I didn't get any interest from publishers - looking at it now I realise it's overlong with, I suspect, too many characters. But as I finalise my second book I wondered what people thought of the first. I'm looking for honesty here, I'm a big boy I can take it.

Why don't you write a short story and then review others' short stories, and let them review yours?
A novel is a big piece of writing for someone to struggle through if they don't already know that they like your writing style.

Cheers Pat that's a good point. When I've drafted the second novel I may well get round to that - I've got a few ideas. I suppose I was really directing the comment to all the people who read it (I posted the book in chapters so I would know if people were reading it and not just having a quick look). In the meantime I'll have a look at yours. You worked that one well!
