RE: Win32API & Visual 2008 C++ Simple Spreadsheet

Okay, we are all very tolerant folk, but surely there are limits? If someone wants to post a piece teaching C++ programming, by all means let them do so. But surely ABCtales is not a suitable home for this? Or should I be posting my own, because I've got acres of the stuff. Whaddya think?

Now you tell me. I'm halfway through posting the Linux source code.

Okay, here's the plan. We stage a coup. This has been a story site for far too long. Gather your source code, wait for the signal, then post for all you're worth. We'll have to keep it quiet, though. There are spies everywhere.

Well, I have a sneaking affection for all this gubbins

i guess it all depends on how you define "creative writing" - Salim's postings could be considered some of the most creative stuff on the site.

keleph | August 3, 2008 - 21:00

Is it creative writing by virtue of it being posted on a creative writing site, or are bricks in an art gallery really, still just bricks?

maddan | August 3, 2008 - 21:17

I would have more patience with Salim posting code if he would fucking indent it!

I think I may have mentioned that before.

tcook | August 4, 2008 - 09:07

Don't post more of it! It's a pain, deleting stuff - and Salim's is pretty harmless but if anyone else starts up then I'll delete the lot.

There's a place in this world for geek fiction. People write poems in Perl http://www.foo.be/docs/tpj/issues/vol4_4/tpj0404-0015.html and Actionscript http://www.heavyflash.com/poetry/Shakespeare_Sonnet18.html

Here's my own contribution to the genre:

btw maddan I think it's the limited html on ABCtales that stop's Salim's compositions from being correctly indented. Maybe there should be a special source code format, complete with fixed width fonts, auto indentation and syntax colouring.

The thing I really resent is that Salim appears to have a more recent version of the VC++ compiler than mine. That I can never forgive. The traditional ways are the best, and always will be, at least until I get the upgrade myself.
