I just had a fit of nostalgia for ABC Tales. This afternoon I was sitting in at my daughter's pre-school (yes that's how long it's been since I last really posted on ABC - the bun is now 3).
When it got to hometime instead of reading a story the teacher got them to make up their own fairy tale en masse. So 15 three year olds made up the most beautiful chain story about a dog called Daffodil Grape (I was the proud mother of that idea's brain child) who took a train to spain and ate a magic carrot that he found floating in the sea, after meeting a lonely pelican and an icecream man who lived in a tent.
Really reminded me of good old late night ABC posting as everyone got drunker and drunker. These little guys were just coming up on a sugar rush from some ill-advised iced gem munching and their ideas were up there with the best of them.
Except there was no scrapping.
Hope everyone's well.

Hi Rachel! How's it going?
I remember the 'pacing-around-virtual-waiting-room' thread when we'd heard that you'd gone into labour... My goodness, three years ago!!

Well funny you should mention it but number 2 is due at the weekend. It is my nesting instinct, brings me home to ABC.
How are you all? George - do you yet concede that Elvis is just a poor man's Shaking Stevens?

Ahh, we all still here. Such funny memories.
I think a lot of us still keep in touch. The site was and is good for that.
I see and from Miss Fish more than I ever did. We are still (despite our ups and downs) good pals.
Sometimes we even stroll hand in hand through green meadows and tie daisies in each others hair.

it's true though ... i am in touch on a daily basis with people i met on here, people i count as very close friends ... am almost entirely glad i happened by abctales one day in 2001 ... it's brought me a lot of people and experiences and am grateful for (mostly) ...

2001! I've known you and others for seven years? It's almost one of the longest love affirs I've had.
One of my fondest memeories was one of the earliest ABCTales nights. We were all there, drunk as blind badgers. I remember giving Martin T a huge cuddle. It was also the first time that Fish and I met. She wore black of course.

Cor it's like stumbling upon friends reunited but with fewer IT Consultants. How lovely!
Fishy, sex or knitting - it all sounds marvelous in Murky. Ralph, you're not at The Blooms anymore are you? Jude are you all recovered?
Have spent weekend eating curry and pineapple and have shifted nothing but my dignity. Shall wait for Daisy to get home tonight and resort to the old trick of banging the ketchup bottle on the bottom. Saucy. Mother is demanding baby by Thursday as is her 60th.
ivoryfishbone | November 17, 2008 - 16:17
his bottom?
goodness me ...
here is a trick i learned during my exhaustive training as a reflexologist (true) ... if you put the outer ankle bone of one foot on the knee of the opposite leg (well you couldn't get it on the same knee now could you?) ... you will be presented with the inner ankle bone/heel ...
now what you do is vigorously massage (with your thumb) that area that forms a triangle from the ankle bone to the heel where it starts to the back of the heel ...
even better if you can get daisy to massage it! save you bending ... i realise that bending is v difficult in the 40th week ...
this is the area that corresponds to the lady bits wherein babies are incubated ... lots of vigour ... baby will pop out!
(see the area on this map! on the bottom drawing - the red bit that says uterus! http://www.gardenerofthoughts.org/ideas/reflexology/sides.png)

When I manage to locate my feet (they are but strangers to me and have been for a while) I will give it a go. Is it violent? Should I have a bucket handy? Daisy has sore throat and a meeting, says would be more convenient if baby came towards end of week. Did reflexology course train you how to perform a vasectomy? Doesn't need to be painless.

Hello Rachel...I hope we can receive an update on No.2 in due course, if you get another fit of nostalgia...I am beyond recognition since we met...just hit the big 40 and oldest son is 13. I do remember fondly the days of such lively forums you would struggle to get your penny's worth in before someone else and posts would get out of sinc...party nights on the forums...I enjoyed my few live abctales nights...and meeting you at the Blooms...I think I still have a pic of you draped over Missi...but hey...you'll not be looking in on here for a while if you succeeded with the triangle massage as per fish. I hope you are getting some sleep Rachel! Hang in there girl!
tcook | November 26, 2008 - 17:55
How wonderful to hear form you all again - and good luck to Rachel with No. 2. Are you still in Hants? I keep meaning to visit when I go over to see my old Mum but she takes up a lot of time! This thread brought a tear to my jaundiced old eye.
ivoryfishbone | November 28, 2008 - 21:14
well is there any news?????
sgardiner | December 11, 2008 - 22:33
Gibbering Jesus. There are people on this thread who should have been dead years ago. And Coates needs her tubes tied. Mother of two by now, I'll be bound.
It's been years. Edgar is about to be released from Guantanamo Bay.
I am looking for Hox.
