Tom Brown's Schooldays

East's study, says the author, is six feet by four. That's smaller than my bed! Into this space fits a table, a sofa, and a chair. Later we discover that it also contains cupboards and shelves, a kennel of fox hounds, a brewery and a coaching inn. Well, maybe not the last three, but it's pretty crowded without them. How small were schoolboys in those days? Have I been reading Tom Thumb's Schooldays?

Yes!

MacDonald Fraser's Flashman is the one thing we can be greatful to TBS for (unless you count Tomkinson's Schooldays from Ripping Yarns).
