a little bit slow in here

I don't come these forums much any more I admit, back in the day they were rocking, hundreds of posts a day, now, maybe one or two every day.

What happened?

FTSE100 | September 17, 2009 - 14:51

Welcome to Forum, population 13 and falling. This used to be a thriving community. We lived by selling our houses to each other at ever more inflated prices and giving each other loans we couldn't afford. Then one day it all stopped. Why today and not yesterday? What's so different now? Nobody knows.

tcook | September 17, 2009 - 15:11

The discussions seem to have moved to underneath the stories - some of them go crazy on there. But it would be good to see some silliness and general mayhem back on here.

chuck | September 17, 2009 - 15:13

Could it be a manifestation of general internet fatigue? I'm told blogging isn't what it used to be.

FTSE100 | September 17, 2009 - 15:30

I remember when blogs had tunes you could hum. Now they don't even write their own, they just sample other people's. Has the world gone mad?

chuck | September 17, 2009 - 15:41

History repeats. It's a Tower of Babel thing.

FTSE100 | September 17, 2009 - 15:45

Maybe it's all too much effort. If people wrote suggested replies to their posts it would make things a lot easier.

Suggested reply: As ever, you are very wise, FTSE. I agree with everything you say and always will.

chuck | September 17, 2009 - 16:04

Good idea. People could have whole conversations like that. This is where you either agree or change the subject. Or skunk emerges from under Crackersville's trailer.

Ewan | September 17, 2009 - 18:00

The comments option was bound to cause the slow demise of the forums. Video killed the radio star, didn't it?

Ya cain't stop progress, Orville!

Certain members can still cause a commotion on the forums though. Step forward NWB, BG et al.

martin_t | September 19, 2009 - 23:24

well, clear there is some life in us yet, let's have a ruck. that always ups the posts!

FTSE100 | September 20, 2009 - 21:55

A ruck? You wouldn't know a ruck if it rucked your nose off, you un-rucked tweezer. How's that for a start?

Mangone | September 20, 2009 - 22:48

Yeah, you wouldn't know a ruck if it fell out of your rucksack!

AlbertF | September 21, 2009 - 00:28

Ruck it in a bucket. You must be the no-holds bard.

Mangone | September 21, 2009 - 06:24

Your no-holds Bard brought an early morning smile, Albert :O)

While I'm posting I just thought I ought to add a well deserved thank you to FTSE for the fabulous Track function, which, I presume, he added to ABC.

I had no idea what it was at first but now I can't imagine how I ever managed with out it.
It not only reminds you where you've been but also allows you to track other writers that you admire.

Great job FTSE!

FTSE100 | September 21, 2009 - 11:21

Thank you sir, nice to know my efforts are appreciated!

poetjude | September 22, 2009 - 13:54

I remember many years ago, several members on these forums said they awaited gleefully my conversion to the socialist cause.

I am still here and yet I am still socially liberal but fiscally conservative. Does that mean it has all been in vain?

jude

chuck | September 22, 2009 - 14:19

It means you have found the Middle Way jude.

martin_t | September 25, 2009 - 17:37

we are still hopeful jude!

tcook | September 28, 2009 - 10:22

Repent, woman, repent! Your name is on the list come the revolution. I can get it removed but first you must repent.

poetjude | September 29, 2009 - 13:30

No thanks, I'd rather take the bullet if it's all the same!
