Oh, what a happy week I've had. Took over ABCtalesradio. Moved all the files to ABC's server. Apache wouldn't have anything to do with them. 403, access denied. Tailed the error log to find code 13, which points to a Linux file permissions problem. Everything is 755 / 644 as one would expect. Now discover that, entirely unknown to me, the ABC server is running SE Linux. 'setenforce 0' fixes the problem temporarily, but can't leave it like that. Today I know bugger all about SE Linux beyond the basic 'chcon' and so forth. It wasn't in my plans that I should know anything about it tomorrow either, but now it looks as if my plans will have to change. All this for a job that should have been little more than copying some files.
Right now I'd settle for a quick fix if anybody's got one. Other than that, a little sympathy? Or a wall to bang my head against? I never wanted to be a Linux admin, I'm only doing it for my boyscout nurd badge.

Never mind Foots, *I* sympathise. I know exactly how it feels to spend days fiddling in a bloody database on something that would take 30 mins to fix for someone who knows what they're doing :-)

Andrea, I can't take credit for the site at www.abctalesradio.com - at the moment that gets you the original site in its original location. For test purposes the site on the ABC server is accessed as www.booktribes.com. It seems to be working now I've sorted out the permissions and so forth, which is way out 'n' groovy. As soon as I can alter the DNS information, for which I'm waiting on somebody else, it will be accessed with its proper URL.
