Trying to pick Story and Poem of the Year

Good Lord, what a task. This will take some sorting...must have a look back and see.

I would like to recommend the fabulous 'And she is drowning before the silt' by HaiAnh. It does that magical thing of mixing the commonplace and the profound. The poetic voice feels authentic and original and the poem sounds beautiful when read aloud.

Any of the Biggus cherries or anything by Salim Meghani.

Seriously though, not sure that there is a lot of value to picking a POY or SOY. Of the week is tricky enough, of the year just seems somewhat contrived.

It's all contrived - and inevitably subjective - but we should get a couple of very good pieces flagged up as a result!

Well, just my opinion. You're the boss...

tcook | December 17, 2009 - 16:38

I've chosen mine - but I am still open to suggestions! They'll go up tomorrow (Friday), so go on, convince me of your choice.

Detective Dogrel by Celticman for sheer silly cleverness.

Christine | December 17, 2009 - 18:48

oops, should I have chosen from all the stories of the week? Oh well, never mind. Hardly a crime.

tcook | December 17, 2009 - 19:21

Not at all - they can come from anywhere but I must admit that I restricted myself to that area!

MistakenMagic's poem Siren. I found it so powerful and her images uniquely beautiful. There are so many wonderful poems and stories on abctales, it's quite a challenge.

tcook | December 18, 2009 - 12:47

It is done now - I hope you like my choices!
