i thought Samhain Day was November 1st?

Belle Green | October 4, 2010 - 18:24

The wiccan feasts and rituals run from the entire week preceding October 31–November 1...The last day of October marks the end of the Celtic Old Year and the beginning of the New so it is also known as The Witch's New Year. But for Wiccans Oct. 31 is Samhain.

But I thought that Samhain was gaelic for November and it is traditionally a gaelic festival marking the end of the light half of the year and the begining of the dark, which is where the word harvest comes from.

Belle Green | October 4, 2010 - 22:43

You are correct but depending on the 'tradition' the observance is on Oct. 31...Oct 31-Nov.1 as I posted and explained above...

Belle Green | October 4, 2010 - 22:52

Samhain begins October 31...twilight.
