I am getting a kitty tiger soon as it has grown enough to leave it's Mother Cat. It is going to be an indoor cat or tiger as it is. I'm going to try to tame it as the song goes ("Taming the tiger-" Joni Mitchell- have the album)-I am sure I can make it as docile as a well fed and bred tiger. Actually it's a Norwegian forest tiger so I am wondering how it will adapt to indoor life. I am hoping and I am sure we will be very happy together. Me and the tiger called Jenny,... or James maybe Jenny James or even James Jennifer. Do you think they are good names for a tiger? I need someone else's opinion. Do you have any good suggestions for other nice names?
Didn't you know that we have tigers in Scandinavia? They are very dangerous in the wild. They will scare anyone with their purring.
I have two cats - a brother and sister - and while I don't think they're evil, as this implies to me some sort of thoughtful intent in their actions, I do think they are creatures of instinct. Even though they're very well fed, they still stalk anything that captures their attention.
Cats stalk because they, in the main, are not stupid enough to forget their roots.
If a cat likes you it will often bring you a mouse and release it at your feet in an effort to teach you how to hunt.
Usually undeterred by what it sees as a pathetic perfomance it will recatch the mouse and try again.
In return for its kindness people usually, eventually, manage to rescue the mouse and, scold the cat!
The mouse, usually hospitalised in a cardboard box, invariably dies of shock.
A cat is a little tiger. Just as a bird is a little dinosaur. But it is unlikely that these creatures will suddenly mutate and assume gargantuan proportions with corresponding appetites.
Any animal that has an unpredictable aggressive streak despite being given attention, loving care, training and nourishment is dangerous. Ungrateful as well. It can be a dog, a cat, a raptor, a monkey, an alligator, a snake etc. Even the meekest looking creature can be deadly if its savagery overrules reason.
I'd put sexism aside on this. Women/men/transvestites too can love their pets more than their partners/lovers as well.
I have two elderly cats - Miaow Tse Tung and Fidel Catstro. They are brother and sister and have spent their entire life hating each other. We have stair wars, hall wars, catflap wars, bed wars and person wars. They are good at catching things but what they like best is to beat each other up and/or have their tummy ticked. They are pointless enigmas and I love them both (sometimes). They are tigers already (in their own heads) when they're not being humans.
That's very good Tony- Miaow and Catstro :D I'm going to go for Jenny or James- Jenny after the book by Paul Gallico and James after James Bond perhaps.
My two cats are named Dusty and Joe, after one of my wife's favourite singers, Dusty Springfield and one of my favourite singers, Joe Strummer. Thankfully, they do like each other although fight like enemies sometimes. But don't all siblings?
I knew of a lady back in the late 1990s who had a pair of cats named Diana & Dodi.
But for the record, Delilah the cat made it to a little tribute in a song about her catty behaviour. Instead of a 'wah wah' guitar you get a 'meow meow' simulated purr from an electric guitar.
Check out 'Delilah' from the album 'Innuendo' released 1991, by Queen.
I'm sure Delilah the cat had a happier ending than 'Delilah' the adultress in the Tom Jones hit song.
My cat's called Delilah. She's completely bonkers and likes to show other cats round the house - if we leave the back door open there are always two or three being given a tour, Delilah at the front with her tail up (this could be a clue, although she has had her bits done) and the others following her meekly in and out of rooms and up the stairs. Hussy or estate agent - not sure which.
'hussy or estate agent' - that seriously made laugh! lol FTR, I get visited by a ginger cat every so often - all very nice until you need her to leave so you can shut up the place for the night and then it's fangs, claws, snarling and hissing. After much wounding of my fingers, I don't use hands any more to ease her gently out but just nudge her out with my boot. Maybe she's a he, though? I think cats are like tigers, but I think leopards are something entirely other - on a whole other, more considered, plane. I want, one day, to have a cat that is more leopard than tiger.
I don't have any real problem with Cats but I'm definitely more of a dog person.
I think that Cats and Dogs are like a Yin and Yang of nature. To me, Cats represent individuality and self-preservation and Dogs represent collectivity and cooperation.
I think that if Cats and Dogs could vote then Cats would probably vote Conservative and Dogs would vote Labour.
Also, I think that "The Aristocats" is a poor feline imitation of "Lady and the Tramp".
Animan - I think you'll find she is a he as, so far as I'm aware, all ginger cats are male - hence 'Ginger Tom'. I don't know why and I might be wrong, but that's what I seem to recall.
I think I was raised by cats, I love sleeping, eating, warm places, climbing over rooftops (not very often these days its true) and knocking over dustbins in the middle of the night.
Mind you, I'm not sure how this makes me conservative, I was raised as a left of centre alley cat, not some right wing lap-cat.
Dogs are the workers. Sled dogs/Police dogs/Guide dogs.
Dogs are the downtrodden and oppressed, the "underdogs" unlike the "Fat Cats".
I think that Cats are essentially like Tories/
Republicans because they are ultra-individualists.
Like Ayn Rand, they go their own way.
Alley Cats are like the Hustlers that would be Captains of Industry, but essentially, like right-wing capitalists, they're looking out for number one.
Dogs are pack animals who feel solidarity or kinship with their pack members. I can easilly imagine Dogs manning the picket lines and barking "Scab! Scab!"
Its no wonder that we associate dogs rather than cats with war, "Dogs of war", "Dog tags", "Dog soldiers", its because Dogs are like the grunts,
the lowest ranking in the army but like soldiers Dogs
have that cameraderie.
When cats fight, however, it's usually one on one, like prize fighters or duelling noblemen.
Margharita, there is every possibility the ginger cat is a female. I had a ginger cat for many years who was definitely a girl (she had two litters of kittens). I will concede they are rare but do exist.
Yeah, well, there is no way of checking - that way certain death lies - that ginger is sweet but also plain mean when asked about her sexual orientation and stuff!
I always thought it odd that feline gingers should be exclusively male - as a female ginger myself (well originally, until two kids and assorted cats took their toll) I am delighted to know I have feline sisters!
Margharita, I knew there was something about you I liked, aside from your writing and overall friendly nature - rangas (as we call them here in Australia) - are some of my most favourite people.
Seriously weird ... I have not been visited by the ginger ... as in cat ... since my last post here on this topic ... maybe (s)he has (h)er own Internet connection and keeps a watching brief on this siteand is feeling kind of miffed by remarks here ... but how does (s)he know my username and that the geezer whose armchair (s)he used to doss on is actually 'me'? troubling - keep you posted on this one ... ????????????????????
I think lazy opportunists is a better description for Lions rather than cowardly, they are of course wary and suspicious of anything new that crosses their path, but like all cats curiosity can be the death of them.
But they'll attack and bring down elephants and hippos if the chance or need occurs, and of course a lioness and the pride's sisters will do everything to protect their young when in danger from their natural enemies.
I have six cats Felix, loulou, Nicey ,Soxxy , Oliver and Squeaky, bit like owning the crazy gang. They all have their own personalities which is a mix of good and bad. I think they do have genuine affection for us and miss us if we're not there, then again maybe not.

Do drugs lead to drunkards
Do drugs lead to hell
What of coffee and tea
Aren’t the drugs as well?
Drugs from the chemists
A prescription for dope
If it’s okay with the doctor
Then it’s fine with the Pope?
Do laws lead to criminals
Do drugs lead to crime
Do cats lead to tigers?
Well, some of the time :O)
