No offence to anyone, I'm just curious about what people should make different about this site. Honestly, its great the way it is, all I would change is putting a "like", "love", or "hate" button, and then you won't have to comment on everything you see, although it is really nice to see what other people have to say about your pieces...
Anyways, what would you change?
Savannah

slirpie125 | September 28, 2011 - 01:12
Oops, "should" should be "would". How do you change that?
Savannah
lavadis | September 28, 2011 - 06:54
I would not change a thing about it.
jacques07 | September 28, 2011 - 07:52
I would change the red background; red tends to make people aggresive. I would prefer a nice blue or maybe multi-coloured.
But for the rest, I am very happy here...
alice sunderland | September 28, 2011 - 11:43
keep the red! the site is good in general . no cliques (i havent come across it anyway). a canny guy (mr cook) to read the stuff. its not broken.....in my opinion.
Kurt Rellians | September 28, 2011 - 11:56
abctales is great as it is. I would not like to see anyone do to it what they did to myspace. All the interesting comment discussions on blogs have disappeared and it has turned into an advertising machine for the media market, but everyone has stopped going there as far as I can see. So they have ruined it.
slirpie125 | September 28, 2011 - 12:11
Wow. Yeah, in the end I wouldn't really change anything about it... I like the red. I think its cool. And forget the like button- not after that last post. No body likes MySpace anymore, so...
Savannah
Blessing | September 28, 2011 - 12:12
The red reminds me of an apple, so I guess I'm OK with that. Sometimes I want to bookmark someone's work so I can read it later especially when long and I have little time. I think you used to have that, maybe still do and I don't know how to use ... But then I don't even know how to load a pic on here yet.
cormacru999 | September 28, 2011 - 16:35
I'm good with this site, red or no red, either way. this site is great to me and I have no issues with it.
Highhat | September 28, 2011 - 18:54
I'm in the same boat as Com999- I am okay with how it is. Can't come up with any good change ideas anyway.
Highhat | September 28, 2011 - 18:58
Blessing: there is no bookmark function but you could leave a small comment a la : be back later and that way you have bookmarked it on your track page. The only way you can download a picture is as a link. Pictures are FTSE100's speciality- just wait and see!
Prettyrose | September 28, 2011 - 19:56
Hi All :) I think the site great like others and how it is run.
But if I was to think, I would not mind a change in colour. Or if there was a way (like a online chat room abctales one) where we could all type our thoughts, poems and anything we wanted down and get to know others, what I like about this idea is that we are all taking part at the same time&people do not have to leave their homes to take part, if they cant. I am not sure how ABCtales radio worked so forgive me if my idea as already been done.
Keep Writing
Keep Smiling :))
Blessing | September 28, 2011 - 22:20
Thanks Highhat. I figured the tracking was probably how to deal with a bookmark. Kinda announces to people my interest before I'm ready to announce myself. Guess I'll have to come up with a line of sorts. As for a pic, I haven't taken one in years though folks keep telling me to. All these gadgets. I got stuck on standard mobile Highhat. All I'm down with these days is simple "press" or "push". Anything else I may have to call somebody! Hey ...
well-wisher | September 29, 2011 - 00:48
Everything is so perfect and glossy these days, fashion, music, tv, everything but very superficial.
This website takes me back to the eighties when things weren't as stylish but they had heart.

slirpie125 | September 29, 2011 - 01:26
I like the online chat room idea. We could all get to know each other better and be even more of a little community. And yes, we could also talk about publishing of books and how well each other are doing with their books and poems. I really like that idea. Though I'd be the one not able to chat on it, seeing that I live in America, and most others live in Europe. Though I did notice a few others living in America, like animan(has anyone talked with him in a while?) and MaggieG.
Savannah
Highhat | September 29, 2011 - 05:26
slirpie- animan has recently posted a poem but he doesn't live in the US . MaggieG does though. In America you are only 7 hours behind Europe so chat would be possible. Personally I am not sure whether it is such a great idea with a chat forum!
SundaysChild | September 29, 2011 - 16:16
I like abctales just the way it is- I think the red is good as it works well with the cherries on the site.
The idea of adding some sort of chat room does appeal somewhat- as long as there was the option to have one to one chats with people.
Only vaguely negative thing I can think of is that I think the size of the photo you can upload on your profile is a little small. x
slirpie125 | September 29, 2011 - 20:39
Oh, thank you Highhat, apparently I got animan confused with someone else.... Ugh I just forgot the username!!! And I guess chat could be possible...
I like the red, I think it's cool. Theres not too much, not too little... It's perfect; especially with that shade of blue.

I've just remembered. Every time I post a nature poem, I always have to put it under the 'Spiritual' genre category because there's no separate 'Nature'
category.
It would be nice to have 'Nature' as one of the genres because, sometimes, my Nature poems aren't 'spiritual' but merely descriptive.

We all enjoy abc tales, otherwise we would not be here, I would not understand anyone who berated the site too heavily. However there is nothing wrong with some healthy discussion and honest opinion. Liana got me involved many years ago and I have thoroughly enjoyed it ever since. I spend a good three hours a day reading other peoples poems, novella's and some rather strenuous pieces that really need time and patience. To think relative strangers divulge such sensitive information through the literary medium is awe inspiring.
However...
The appointment of 'Cherry's' as always struck me as dubious. I have read some peoples work and it is littered with 'cherry's' whole pages of cherry's. I mean some of it is absolute bunk, utter bile. Thee is a special few, the elite, members above the rest us, I think atleast two abc tales members could literally write
My mum and dad died, I was a lesbian, I am divorced, my children upset me, I am sexually confused about flowers because daddy was too friendly - the end (or is it)
They would get a cherry, I even predicted one certain member would get a cherry and within minutes of the post, a big lovely red thing attached itself, I suspect like celebrity VIP's these people don't get read by the editors, just a cherry and waved through, no questions.
Some will say I am bitter, in the past yes, now no! If I am so insecure about my writing that I need a fictitious fruit to assuage my ego, then truly I am doomed. Now Pian Man by Silver Spun Sand merited a cherry for what they are worth, its nice to get one is about as much as one can say. Yet I believe the generosity of cherry passing is a select club indeed!
Alice sunderland wrote how there are no cliques, jesus she has missed the boat. If the same people get cherry's constantly for sub standard work, I would hazard a guess that that passes for a clique!
You asked I answered!
This may not be popular but hardly any worse than Lord Lucan's 'Jesus is my friend' I am questioning the allocation of phantom fruit on a page he questioned the very nature of someones faith.
CONTEXT people!
Love Peter.
Lord Lucan | October 1, 2011 - 03:48
Oh dear, I questioned someone's faith. At least I didn't go so far as to say that jihad was wrong. I didn't say that male bomb terrorists will not receive 72 virgins in the afterlife. That would have been questioning beliefs that some people will crash aircraft for.
People are ridiculous creatures. If I know it you can be certain that god does.
spartarcad | October 1, 2011 - 07:06
Lord Lucan = Lord Lucifer = Lewd....ah whatever it got old a long time ago! Yes people are silly creatures, some more so than others!
spartarcad | October 1, 2011 - 18:57
Two of my poems have just been 'cherried' I too now must suckle from the same nipple of self congratulation as everybody else and keep my bloody opinions to myself!
Sorry dear yearners for truth, I am a coward, I hath no purer motive than to promote my own brilliance!
Aghast I am a sham!
Forgive me I know not what I do!
Skunk | October 1, 2011 - 21:02
I spoke to my angels about it and they said they would grant a wish. They didn't say which one.
slirpie125 | October 1, 2011 - 21:05
Ooh who are your angels?
Savannah
Skunk | October 1, 2011 - 21:09
I've been writing about them for days. :)
spartarcad | October 2, 2011 - 01:51
Angles?
slirpie125 | October 2, 2011 - 02:33
Oh ok. Sorry.
And yes, angels are real.
Savannah
Skunk | October 2, 2011 - 02:46
Of course they're real. They've already granted two wishes tonight.
Highhat | October 2, 2011 - 05:09
Angels at angles ;0

I've just noticed that a 'Nature' category has been added. Thank you, ABCtales Editors.

Thanks also to ABCtalers who've sent me nice/helpful emails. I've enabled my comments again because it saves people the trouble of having to email their comments to me.

What wishes
Savannah
spartarcad | October 2, 2011 - 21:13
This has no officially stopped making sense to me!
slirpie125 | October 3, 2011 - 00:53
...Ok.
Savannah
FTSE100 | October 3, 2011 - 01:00
I made two changes.
1) Added a Nature genre for well-wisher
2) Increased account page max. photo size to 120x120
You can pretty well do what you please on your account page - you can use full HTML if you know how and put up pictures of any size. Look at Belle Green's account page, for example, with a YouTube video embedded in it.
I am considering the bookmarks, but that's a lot more time-consuming.
If anybody has had their wishes overlooked, please remind me.
Paul
slirpie125 | October 3, 2011 - 01:07
OH, hahaha, I get it! Skunk meant two wishes were made... Hahaha, I'm slow to catching on. Sorry. And thanks FTSE100. Now hows about a chat room? ;) Just kidding. Though it would be pretty cool...
And I really like your work... Very funny =) I was trying to find a space to write that but then I decided against it. Then you commented here, so here I am, saying "I really like your work... Very funny =)".
Savannah
FTSE100 | October 3, 2011 - 01:20
Thank you Savannah, it's always nice when somebody likes your work. I have thought about a chat room before, but the site is already a bit slow and I think a chat room would bring it to a stop! I'll think about it again...
Paul
PS have you noticed how purple the sky is? ;)
slirpie125 | October 3, 2011 - 01:35
True. I hate when the internet is slow... But actually, I think it has something to do with how much stuff you have on your computer. But yet again I could be wrong. I'm just used to slow, I guess.
Savannah
PS WHERE?! Oh.
jacques07 | May 1, 2012 - 14:58
I would also like to change the cross-referencing system for users if I could. Once one could search by country and I enjoyed this format. It was easy to use and one could find people. This means you have more potential for new readers...
I find the current system slow and difficult to use.
salmanrushdiesp... | May 1, 2012 - 16:05
I think it would make things much much easier and more conducive to commenting, if we could receive a notification email when someone had commented on our story or replied to our comment on their story, without the additional emails every time someone posts on a forum thread that we've participated in, which just floods our email inboxes with notification emails, so that we can't be bothered to read all of them and find out who's commented on our story or on our comment on their story.
I think that's what I mean. It's not an easy predicament to describe. I've described it as best I can.
Do people know what I mean? Does anyone agree?
FTSE100 | May 3, 2012 - 10:45
Go to your account settings and tick the 'Receive comment notification e-mails' box.
Make sure the 'Receive comment follow-up notification e-mails:' drop-list is set to 'No notifications'.
Now you get notification emails on your own work and on your own forum topics. You do not get comment follow-up notifications. That sounds like what you want.
salmanrushdiesp... | May 3, 2012 - 16:26
Oh, right, lovely... Thanks for that...
