In writing one has to find one’s niche. I found my forte in poetry to be lyric verse over the years. In prose and fiction I battled considerably more to find my strong points. When I started out with fiction in 1995 I dreamt of being an Ernest Hemingway or John Steinbeck. That never materialized as I was no good at writing novels or long pieces of writing. Over the years I realized that short fiction and prose is what I’m best at, and aim to focus on this in future. What is your strong point when it comes to poetry and writing..? Have you found your niche yet..?

My niche is a corner of the veranda, in the shade of the unkempt bougainvillea, with a barely used bottle of Jameson's on the table, a wedge of Stilton and some dry crackers. As for writing, that's a mug's game.

Still looking. It'll probably be really obscure: 17 word offensive descriptions of geese, something like that.

I have written a book, with a beginning middle and end. I am now unsure how I feel as I have no pointers in any directions. I have put forward small sections of random to get a feel. A niche, nightmare or non responsive who knows.

Writing is a mug's game; but I believe one should specialize a bit...
