Just Off the Top of Your Head...

Hello, everyone. I was wanting to make a forum that aloud anyone to get things off of their minds. You know, just to let out some steam, or just say random stuff because it'll help you think better; maybe even help those with writer's block think better, if that's ok with you. Have fun =)

Hi Savannah,

First off... I really hate to be picky and pedantic, but someone else is bound to point it out, so I will. It should be 'allowed', not 'aloud'. 'Allowed' means 'permitted'. 'Aloud' means 'out loud'. Having said that, though... the idea of the thread is for people to voice things aloud anyway, so...

What's foremost on my mind today as a niggle? Bus journeys used to be enjoyable. A good chance to catch up on reading, thinking, day-dreaming. Now, though, they're purgatory. If it's not the sound of tinny music blasting out of someone's earphones, it's the VERY LOUD RINGTONES people like to have - and the way they seem to have this need to make you hear the entire thing before they answer it, when they then conduct a VERY LOUD CONVERSATION beginning with that deathless phrase 'I'M ON THE BUS!'

Actually, no... you're in the bus. If you were on it, you'd be sitting up on the roof... which wouldn't actually be a bad idea!

Mutter mutter mutter...

Or finding out that you have lesser horseshoe bats in your loft - now that's seriously annoying!

alex_tomlin | January 3, 2012 - 17:31

Ooh, I know, you just can't get greater horseshoe bats for love nor money these days. These lesser ones just ain't the same. Not the same AT ALL.

And I want the old, bigger wagon wheels back too (apologies for exclusively UK-based chocolate reference).

slirpie125 | January 3, 2012 - 23:43

Stantheman, thanks for pointing that out. I like that: In the bus, not on it... Hahaha. It is so true, too.

Well, I think that if it weren't for those darned Indians, than I would have a cool English accent. But nooo-ooo... I see how it is....

(No offence to Native Americans, you guys are great!!)

Stan I'm right there with you, and I want to include people who converse at the tops of their voices in otherwise quite cafes while I'm trying to read, and don't even have anything to shout that's worth listening to.

Hahaha...

Seconding the Wagon Wheels! I hate starting new years with wonderful intentions of jogging more than usual, spending more time outdoors and trying to treat your body better...

...But then the weather is shite every day, haha.

Stan | January 4, 2012 - 15:39

Gym? ;)

MaliciousMudkip | January 4, 2012 - 15:51

I wish there was one near me! Maybe when I get back to university I should sign up so I can never go and tell everyone I'm a member of the gym.

How about people who stand chatting in the supermarket, holding their trolleys so they block the entire aisle for everyone else while they blether on about NOTHING! And then they look surprised when you ask them to move.

Who's with me?

Stan | January 4, 2012 - 16:35

I am, Alex. Personally, I use a cutlass!

Actually, my favourite tack - on the bus, in the supermarket - is to fart at the appropriate moment in leaving or passing by. The silent, but deadly type.

I get very annoyed when I stand in front of the cashier waiting to pay for my items and the store phone rings. Too many times the clerk will answer ten questions re closing time and do they sell mattresses. And here I wait to pay my money. Richard LP

I too get annoyed if long queue
Customer's bash into me with their baskets.
Or one stands waiting get across the queue!
Come through, like talking to a brick wall.
Some in shops say "no haven't got that, I have a
quick look! same article is scattered around different sections? It is there?
Spelt queue wrong, had look up dictionary.
Little garden splattered or four plastic chairs,
upside down and down to bottom garden! looks wild.
Calm compared to many! Very bad weather!
Ray and I just watched "Treasure Island" seas so rough! too.
