In it to win it

Hi all.

I've been submitting to a lot of poetry mags and online journals lately in an effort to get my work published and I'm very pleased to say that just recently it appears to have paid dividends!

I've had something on The Stare's Nest: http://thestaresnest.com/2014/07/27/ben-banyard-then-sings-my-soul/

And a couple of tiddlers on Nutshells & Nuggets: http://nutshellsandnuggets.tumblr.com/post/92611870507/ben-banyard-two-poems

Finally, and perhaps best of all, yesterday I had a lovely acceptance letter from the editor of a mag called Sarasvati, which is published by a small press called Indigo Dreams - they're taking four of my poems for a forthcoming issue, including Early Days which first appeared here on ABC Tales.

My reason for posting this news is mainly to highlight the fact that if you roll up your sleeves and start sending out your work there are plenty of magazines and websites who are only too happy to publish work by new and emerging writers. And that's not just poetry either - many of the mags also take short fiction and reviews.

So go for it! You could start here: http://paulmcveigh.blogspot.co.uk/ or here: http://www.poetrymagazines.org.uk/

Brilliant news Ben.  Congratulations.

Lovely to hear that, Ben.

Hi Ben, thats made my day. many congratulations mate. Well deserved.

Good on you mate. I'm not much of a poetry buff, but I wish you well and encouraging.

Ben, well done!

This is great news, Ben, and just goes to show that you can't just sit at home waiting for things to happen to you, you have to start sending your work out there.

A friend of mine was complaining that she never got anything published but she hardly ever submits anything.
