DIWALI - THE FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS
Diwali came on its annual round,
On the Indian soil,
To bring brightness in the lives,
On this day for all.
This day's morning saw it all,
People dressed in colourful clothes,
Men and women, old and young,
Moved about in gayful moods.
Exchange of greetings and of sweets,
Could be seen in the households,
Hugs and embraces spoke,
The love that Diwali brought for all.
The night had lights everywhere,
Lamps, candles and tiny bulbs,
Were lighted in every house,
And there was brightness all around.
The old and young all alike,
Burst crackers through the night,
Enjoying this night to its brim,
For Diwali will be there next year again.
Festive fervour everywhere,
Cheerful mood and gaiety air,
To all the people far and near,
'A Happy Diwali' to all.
