Moments

from the ABC set Poetry

A chubby toddle beams at me
His face full of life

Girls a decade wiser
Accept me like they never did

That boy from my past
Has a consolation for my every fear

I jump with friends of old
Beneath the same sky, we once held in awe

There is truth in my family
A final outpouring of love

And an unanticipated apology
Is what brings me, finally, to tears
