In Midnight Rain

from the ABC set Poems that fill my head

Weak lips, jello legs
Tumbling with parasol
Faltering through streets

Clinging to lamp posts
Yarn-like swoons escaping lips
Points of teeth gleaming

Clouds glide overhead
Romantic aspirations…
Pour from the heavens

Cobblestone walkways
Fill with the midnight bounty
Of moisture and dreams

Happiness transcends
Skipping with exuberance
Through these darkened streets

Dream-filled slumber finds
Delicate pillow corners,
Weary mind and eyes

Auspicious future...
It mingles...incognito
With a gloomy past

Dancing carefully...
Infusing joy in despair
Under guarded watch

As morning arrives,
Sunlight scurries up bedside
Abounding with bliss
