Aspirin protege

from the ABC set Thoughts

Aspirin protégé
How you live in night’s dim fray
Aspiring less day after day
My aspirin protégé

Ailing sail-mate protégé
Addicted
Agonized at every word we say
Every sound we make
Every note we play...

I know your age harbours little hope
Your frail small bones
Your hair like rope

-Skin peeling
Your creases set my stomach reeling
Your knobbly knees aren’t overly appealing
And your acne seems to have trouble healing

Aspirin protégé
Every tablet tastes so vile
A flavour fit to slay-
It’s appalling that you allow them to stay in your mouth for more than a second
But you’ve grown to salivate over their healing warmth
Because you reckon: ...
A few more pills wouldn’t be too much in excess
‘Just a few more pills’
An escalation in your love affair would bring you thrills

Aspirin protégé
In this house we don’t permit
Fiddling around
Bridling
Lovemaking that makes me sick
Although I must admit
Your aspirin does a lot for you
You’re over thankful
Ever true
And if you were both carbon based
Your pairing up would fit the shoe
The unrequited shoe
Of a relationship that serves only you

Aspirin protégé...
I mean...
Multiple bank accounts...
Fake identities
Just so you can hit the hay
A little earlier
Make your life a dash pearlier

This lover
Like a drug you dream of day on day
Yet you steal my home
My food
And stay
Where the aspirin is stored away...

I liked the first 4 or 5 stanzas and then...
it seemed to take a turn for the serious :O)
