Short-lived, yet so lived-
Condensing the years and years
Of gathered truths
Into a tiny, unassuming capsule;
Easily dropped
And dissolved
In some unworthy liquor,
At a stale and lifeless instance.
Words, words, words;
Fancy? vacuous, vacant words
Of bygone moments:
Dregs of a once liquid,
Once tender touch-
Ephemeral, yet euphonious,
Appealing, yet erroneous-
Lost in an instant, forgotten
In some moment of unbridled revelry.
Lay waste to the once known comfort,
Or cut the forgone certainties-
Like an old friend
Too slow to keep up.
