WE'RE ALL SO MOBILE THESE DAYS

She talks ten to the dozen.
Perhaps a baker's dozen of passengers
flick their papers, snap their headphones

closer to their ears. Doesn't she ever
shut up? I'm not interested
in her boyfriend or what she said

to her bitch of a boss last week.
The sudden mercy of tunnels cuts her off
mid-breath. "Hello, hello, hello," she implores,

like a village idiot who thinks
he can hear someone reply when he speaks
into the mouth of an empty cave.

You might be catching the same bus or train that I do except I know you're not. This is a a great spotlight on modern ignorance at its worst. Excellent.
