I don't know whether I loved you in a gentle,
perfect way. Our friendship was a roller
coaster ride that we were both unsure of,
the sheer height and speed was alarming.
Sometimes a fault-line appeared to be growing
from beneath the foundations that we built and
sometimes happiness travelled in a backwards direction.
With all of this going on, I always tried to make
you smile, I never meant to hurt you in any way.
The cuts of my arm told their own story, you were
the sunrise on the grey mist that smothered my mind.
Every moment we shared together was a memory
engraved on my heart, standing the test of time.
I know that when you told me that you were
leaving,I cried..
What can I do? I feel like I have destroyed you
and I never wanted to hurt you.
I love you in a non-perfect way and your
friendship is the most prized possession I own,
that and the jumper you left behind .
I sing your favourite song with all the emotion
I'm sure you do, just so I can imagine you singing along with me.
Love knows no barriers, friendship is the feeling
that sparkles and something that rarely fades.
A light of hope that we can rely on in the darkest hours.
I suppose all I needed to say was,
“I hope that you are ok.”

Just brilliant Beeme. I think what really hit me is I've just written a poem similar to this about one of my friends - what a coincidence eh? So this will always be a special poem for me - the imagery is absolutely wonderful!

The emotion was tangible and heartfelt. Pain passes, memories remain, good, bad, happy and sad.
Lovely poem, expressed honestly; loved it!

new Beeme
Very sad, beautifully worded.
and expressed. But sometimes we
cannot explain, or know how the
other feels, even after 37
years married, one never really knows
a person well,we all want different thing's
and we try and try to fit in, most of all to be accepted, by other's to.take care.
