Overend – A Year In Crime
Chapter Thirteen
Friday April 12th 2002
Following the interview with Big Cyril the remainder of the week was relatively uneventful.
The Treorchy constabulary had interviewed Big Cyril's assistant cashier, Mary Weeks, on their behalf and as a result of the conversation with Lisa Stringer, Derek Blackmore was called in to give a formal statement.
The Interviews held with the current and ex employees of Big Cyril had turned up nothing of interest but the information was collated and filed.
DS Tilly Donnally had finally bullied forensics into supplying their finding, which in reality was hardly worth waiting for.
There were no forensics at all from the robbery at Clifford’s factory and all they could confirm about betting shop robbery was that the cigarette ends found in the back garden at Roespring were smoked by the same person who had worn the crash helmet found dumped in Abbeyvale.
Jenny Hack had completed her missing person inquiry and concluded that the most likely conclusion was that she had left her husband to start a new life elsewhere either on her own or with another.
Louise Tunstall was off sick for the whole week and Dave Webster was still on holiday sunning himself on some distant shore.
Inspector Adamson and Sergeant Katarski supervised the rest of the team to complete the analysis of the documents from Olympic Security.
They were presently collating the results to see if the deceased security guard Tony Conway, burnt to death at Dawson's recycling plant, had been placed at Olympic for the purpose of gathering information for potential robbery targets.
What they had found was that Conway had worked for two weeks at Clifford’s Biscuits.
