Takes me unawares,
Light, starbursting through me...
Heartbeats quicken
Breathing deepens.
My conscious self surfaces,
The lights dim
Heartbeats slow
Breathing lightens.
I come fully awake
Sweat trickling and
Alone…
The others’ essence
Hangs, haunting the night air
Teasing me.
Empty and unfulfilled,
I try to sleep again
