The Lie

When a lie is born
it’s created with a past,
there's a reason it was told
now that lie must last.

As time goes on
it inevitably grows,
acquiring a present
only its creator knows.

The lie gives birth to others
to cover up the first;
giving it a future
with more deceit
to quench its thirst.

One day its creator
will realize the truth,
that the lie has overtaken him
swallowing up his youth

A lie is a living thing
eager to be fed;
gaining credence with history
long after the liar is
DEAD!!
