Madness

from the ABC set Experimental Works

Silence dense,
breathing arduous,
lungs release air,
push hard over vocal chords
up to the throat and out
through taut lips;
small screams, fall instantly
plummeting into padded surrounds
Held fast, never to rebound.

Silence suffocates
and sanity recedes

Almost frighteningly recognisable; which says a lot about some of the places that I have been in my mind in the past ;) Very well captured Val. At times during my darker days (depression) this was me; minus the padding - ridiculous in hindsight but so real at the time. Good work, you have no idea of the accuracy; I hope!
