Driving through Matfield
by the common
and the duckpond
as commuters poke holes through dusk
with headights
a fox shape floats accross the road
again
I think he waits for
a car really doing 30
and accross the garden
yesterday
a Narnia squirrel
completely white like an Ermine with a tail
taking a message to Aslan
and at the turning
the bus stop tree
has been decked in silver
and blue lights
and next week
the grin I often feel broadening
at some pleasantry or poem
some tender joke of mine
will be within view
for a little while
