Stuck today
in the wrong changing rooms
staffed by the bored in black
they are overhot and chairless
have sallow fat mirrors
disgruntled jowls
jeering like the it girls who never need the gym
I know that somewhere in town
one of the perfect
neatly poured into an hourglass suit
re glosses over a marble sink
before an evening of witty flirting with someone super
in a nest of friends
whose phones ring like hungry fledglings
or she stoops for a serious briefcase
she goes to meetings that will change things
her opinions matter
because she knows the answer,pulls it out
with a flick of caramel hair
or she is chucking down the chilled white
before the orchestra warms up
for a hot ticket
No one notices I leave a trail
of green pond slime
but I'm stuck in it
