Off I go with the babe
in her pram
the bag attached is crammed
To see the shops
and buy some chops
And many other things
I pop into a jewellers
to have a peep at rings
Behind the counter
the tall stoutly man
is writing with
a Swan fountain pen
Specs hanging
on the end of his nose
big eyes looking
as if in a doze
Staring staring
at me in a an odd way
as the ink from his pen
shot all over my face
And opologises
hands me a damp cloth
so I can wipe it all off
Do you think I would
buy anything there
not on your life
I do declare
The pram is parked
by a vegetable shop
left with the brake on
But "Petal" the babe
has in her hand
the biggest reddish apple
from the box stand
She has taken a big bite
although only a tiny mite
I don't know where to put my face
So quickly passing by
a picture in a window
has caught my eye
The colours are a delight
done by broad brush strokes
of a ship on the ocean blue
I must buy it too
Then I hurry on along the roads
forgetting the bag
of yellow bananas in my load
Over the crossing line
the wheels are going
bumpety bump
with each jolt
Alarm bells are going off
to tell one not to cross
the six five special
is due on time
But my yellow bananas
have jumped out the bag
quickly I turn back
one hand on the springy high pram
Bend down and rescue them
on the track
my heart is going fast
luckily it didn't end in fate
All I wanted was to get back home
and make my banana cake.

I like this one Julie, the only way we can get our kids around the supermarket is by giving them bread, donughts grapes etc which I suppose is technically stealing, but we always pay for it and it's better than all hell breaking loose. Thanks for the read. FB :-)

I love the idea of the baby shoplifting the apple Julie! Also the near miss with the bananas - very dramatic!
there are a couple of things:
I must buy it to - too
as if in a dose - doze
so I can wipe it all of - off
hope that helps

Julie - you have worked so hard on this one, and I'm sorry I haven't commented before, but have only just noticed it.
I too make banana cake, or rather, I used to, when my kids were small. Speaking of which, you mention 'springy' prams. A thing of the past, unfortunately. 'Cross' I seem to remember, was the 'Rolls Royce' of perambulators in the fifites and sixties. Nowadays, 'buggies' are far more desirable, seeing as you can fold 'em up and put 'em in a car!!
Much enjoyed your poem, Julie. Keep 'patting that butter'...You're doing fine;-)

Hi! thanks for comments.
Do you really, I have a job
sometimes. Most are life or
experiences. Plenty of help from
Editor t.cook (Tony) AbcTales team
and many too say thankyou. I only tried
comp; last year fun, had some from homeless
group all of it was done by 16-80 year olds.
20 sentences put into poem or story. Staff would
send it off to The Big Issue some get paid bit.
CDs and short film done amazing and plastic oscars
given all anfd celebs: hand out, shame finished. Books done free. Amazing what one could try or join in. Then on here different as punctuation it was all typed by the staff. Hope all is going well for you.
Look foreward reading more of your's I am more of an agony aunt. Don't call myself poet. All headings on here at first I didn't know a thing. All lists of cherries Forum Track gradually learn't.
When new one's come on I am truly amazed see so good first timers, compared to mine.
Have a good week-end. Seen £The King's Speech" film
brill: daughter treated me, now going to see "The Black Swan" nice to go pictures and with her.
