"Barry Green"
the wonderful pianists
nods his head, as the fingers
are bent for timing
ripple over the keys
One hand is playing
pianissimo
the other the melody
then the kettle drums
And shakes a shaker
in a bag like
tinkles of a bell
smiles now and again
Foot tapping begins
as he brings in the
Oboe, clarinet, chello
and violin
To a golden lullaby
slumber
in the church
full of angel's wings
I start to sway
to the beat
at the percussions
all brought in
The audience smile
one number they play
like a sound of
clip-clop horses
But it's alternately
patting their hands
on their thighs
like a flamenco
of mexican timing
The "Six Piece Quartet"
strings, saxophone
double bass
All joined in
I met the pianists
after as some had
told him of AbcTales
I will try a poem
if Barry he agrees
"yes" be very delighted
shook hands
And a kiss
on the cheek
I had never heard
of the wonderful
"Six Quartet" before
but definitely
go again
for more
I even stood up on my feet
for a standing ovation
after one glass
of sweetish wine
I have cd of Aker Bilk
Chris Barber
Louis Armstrong
and "Six Quartet, before long
Oh! my belated pop
such a clever man
played piano,violin accordian
out of six none, had his talent.
all comments please!

Felt weird mine was in, so cooked something quick!
I was up until 3.am as looked at preview, never used preview key!

I also had word,bazooka=read dictionary,

Could come back free on a saturday.

hit with like a drumstick too.
Thankyou so much lovely comment.

Good morning young Julie. I've decided to jump over the wall and have a read of some poetry today. This was a real pleasure. Reminded me of my old Papa who seemed able to play every instrument. He taught my brother the trumpet and me the accordion. Wish I'd stuck in at it.
This my favourite stanza (Is that the correct term? I'm not up to speed on anything poetic) -
I start to sway
to the beat
at the percussions
all brought in
Because that is when you know the music has taken you to another place.
It was an absolute pleasure meeting you and your husband last night. I'm sending you both a big hug. x

Hi julie,
you've certainly been inspired with this poem.
By the way, I used to go and watch Aker Bilk
back in the 1970s, he used to appear at this
club in Bristol, called the Grannery, loved
watching him play.
Thankyou for sharing this piece, I really enjoyed
reading.

hello! jenny, thanks comment.
It was a concert "Jazz" quartet
went to, day time alone, he doesn't
like always like I like, and shows!
Glass of wine, though free! no £2.5op
Sat there pretty wet! Had no pen, la-plume.
But courage met Pianists and his wife, and some
and said could I try, make one up,as on the AbcTales, com anyone can join. So trying bring it
all in like a last crescendo! big word?
Yes, "please Barry Green" said I'd never heard of or met. In a church near me. 3 day of different groups
"Jazz". Glad you saw Aker Bilk. Umm! loved "Stranger on the shore" Once boss in and office
salesman or rep; had this on on radio, think said
I better sit down and listen, so I did. Was it "Johnny Dankworth" with "Cleo Lane". Like all music. Don't know Bristol well, but brother in Somerset used to go, or come down here.20 Miles from station. Once got down with the baby then?
Missed you at "Wheatsheaf" London.
