My job at the office then
was a telephonist see
no time hardly for a
cup of tea
or to spend a penny
I would always say
"Good morning
how can I help you"?
The boss had gone out
I sat in my turnable chair
took the calls
and put them through
So I pressed the switch
and gave it a long ring
as the two lads scuttled
across the room
Stop it!
"they shouted
to hell with you"
They both came down the stairs
about 12.noon
into the reception room
I was eating sandwiches
and reading a book
Without further a do
the lads had tea cloths
in their hands
Oh! No
I was gagged around the face
not a word could I say
Then there was a twist
my hands put behind my back
and tied my wrists
Please! I thought not my ankles too
but bound them taught
what? could I do
The door they opened wide
and put me outside
all the blasted traffic
passing by
Did anyone pull up to see
if I was alright
not on your life
the pavement so narrow
driver's faces full of sorrow
I jumped about like a bunny would
the only thing I could do
was turn around
kick the door with my foot
The boys were there let me in
laughing from ear to ear
both untied me
I sat down on the seat
Oh! your white as a sheet
I'd felt sick inside
and a bloody fool
the boss never found out at all
Good job it wasn't a kidnapping
I wouldn't be here
to tell the tale
what? happened.

Many years ago I worked in an office.
Nothing quite like that happened to me, but I worked
in a factory and got cling filmed to a pallet, that
was very claustrophobic and painful. They only let
me go, because I started to panic and felt such a
baby cause I started to cry.
Good poem though. I would laugh if similar had not
happened to me.
Jenny.

Quick reply because there's nothing on tele and I
have just finished reading my Terry Brooks book,
"The Gypsy Morph". He is my favourite author.
Glad you love the Somerset poem.
Pam Ayres the poet is hilarious, you should read some
of her poems.

Decided to read an old one of yours, what a terrifying ordeal but you've molded it into an excellent poem, so in the end...you won.

Hello1 maggy, thanks comment.
All true, lunch hour no boss about,
not sure if baby on way then. Liitle buggers
laughed. Frightening I was young,t they wouldn't answer phones, so kept ringing it, they stamp on floor. Traffic going by, no one stopped, all could
do turn right left, down step, near sea and cars.
So had to jump back tierd up tea cloths, knock door
and let in. The boss never knew. Only one thingsd in
my life! History. Not in good mood to-day. So taken myself out walked both ways, into town. Daughter didn't let me know time coming, and mine comes and goes without me most time, good man hopeless in saying things, right way, so lay in. Capt snooker and plays bowls, so where and how do we get out to-gether. Quite warm out to-day. Won't join me shopping
or coffee out busy with himself. Horses lost not much. Hope all is ok with you. Got the blues! but been there him in all. Bought lovely peaches, and tops one colour is cheaper than the other, missed daughter as no time, no message. Had friends, and been laid up back. Now he wonders why have a lay in.
He watched Hannibal it was awful, firghten to move bed. Shocking film. Have you been anywhere nice.
In garden sirens going and ambulance sirens. Have a good week-end. Thankyou reading oldie one. Yours are
very good, way you can tell them. In those days, letter state as pregant have to leave, no compensation then I wasn't married 15 months.
Thats enough for now. All part of some of life's experiences, and ,many gone through. Like many.
Mine used to do nights I hated it with a a baby.
