Meaning of Free

from the ABC set Attempting Poetry

A distant reflection in the mirror
A startling realisation of truth
The teardrops that fall in winter
Only reminiscent of you

Wide eyes, curved with sorrow
Fake happiness everyday
No one cares to look deep enough
The dark blue is filling with water
Needing to know the truth

A heartbeat fulfilling a promise
A breath escapes from these lips
It would only take a moment to remember
An occasion of perfect bliss
But it always goes amiss

I’ve been denying feeling so lonely
I’ve only been lying to myself
There’s one person I can always turn to
But the punishment is already dealt
I think about love more than you do
Yet nothing is ever felt.

Very poignant.

Convinced me with well-chosen poetic words. The third last line, grounded reality. I really enjoyed reading this, thanks for sharing. :-)
