Of Transparent Windows

from the ABC set Attempting Poetry

Raindrops, raindrops
Dripping down the window
One after the other
Each one equal
No one’s a competitor

Sunshine, sunshine
Floating through the window
Scattering lightly on the floor
Not one glittering more
As they shine against the door

Thunder, thunder
Bouncing off the window
Shaking the foundations
Rumbling the floor
Each one louder than before

Reflection, reflection
Transparent in the mirror
A stranger to the beholder
Paler than before
The soul showing like an open door
