Afraid to smile, afraid to frown,
Afraid of up, afraid of down.

Afraid to laugh, afraid to cry,
Afraid to live, afraid to die.

Afraid to lose, afraid to win,
Afraid to pray, afraid to sin.

Afraid to give, afraid to take,
Afraid asleep, afraid awake.

Afraid to fast, afraid to slow,
Afraid of yes, afraid of no.

Afraid to love, afraid to hate,
One day maybe, but far too late.
