The Common Viper

A viper rises from its bed of bones,
Cold and small here the heart beats,
And he Slinks across some hazy
Savannah, belly sweeps the dirt.

The instinct moves to act and act.

Slides amber brown scales
In a blink or a flicker, leaves
Himself behind as a memory
S on earth or dune crossed.

Day draws out like elastic.

Emergence into another carrousel
Of monotony, a lobotomy to be
Penetrated with Violence, head
Rears back as a dagger, snaps

And swallows time that hunger fed.

Hi, can't help peering in occasionally while trying not to, but this I think is gorgeous, along with the ones before it. I identify with it, particularly the last 6 lines... um... ugh... thanks, I think. (sips coffee, closes browser, rendered unusually speechless)

Day draws out like elastic.

and

And swallows time that hunger fed.

are just wonderful.

And just perfect how you leave them to themselves to have all their impact in glorious isolation!
