I am so lonely
that my heart
must be a moon
sharpened
like a scythe
thinning itself
to a blade
every day
it is barbarous
every day
it is shrinking.
I am so lonely
that my heart
must be a border
patrolled by guards
timed movements
under searchlights
for one to cross
every day
it is crouched
every day
it is a whisper.
I am so lonely
that my heart
must be a pail
for collecting
drips and drops
off rooftops
or a kitchen tap
every day
it is filled
every day
it is emptied.

I love the repetition of 'every day' which just seems to echo the feeling of monotony which i think is present here. I think this is simple, direct and upsetting - but in a good way.
