The only truth she knows
Comes and goes
The more she tries to reckon
And the lads outside
Laugh and deride her
Yet her traitorous eyes still beckon
She opens her doors wide
Brings them inside
To drink and sing and cavort
The braver try to chance
A slower dance
Thinking they might be her sort
And the Monkeys sing
About things happening
Round here when the sun goes down
So she smiles through tears
Of her aging fears
That her prince will never ride into town
The only truth she knows
Comes and goes
Just like all those she's known before
But she’ll never tire
She’ll go down to the wire
Till there is one who stays behind to lock her door

You can't blame a trier!!!
Liked all of this, but loved this...
The only truth she knows
Comes and goes
Just like all those she's known before
But she’ll never tire
She’ll go down to the wire
Till there is one who stays behind to lock her door

Thanks, Doeslittle. Incidentally, loved your 'Flotsam' poem in the latest issue of ABCTales magazine. What an excellent piece.
