In reflection, she’s moving towards me,
a glimmering, glowing girl
posing infinite possible futures.
In reality, she’s moving away from me,
gritty and determined to leave;
seeking to annul our shared past.
In reflection, she’s bright and smiling,
a charmed and beautiful soul
spreading angelic wings of joy.
In reality, she is rubescent with anger,
hard-faced and remorseless,
showing no empathy for my pain.
In reflection, her desire is obvious;
in reality, so is her hate.
