Songwriter's Night

from the ABC set Poetry

I am not a circus
I don’t possess three rings
Although sometimes
Sawdust clouds my thoughts

I am not a multiplex
With mega-surround sound
All one would hear
Would be tinnitus feedback

I am not street
I don’t mime, balance or juggle
Although occasionally
It would appear as though I try

What I am is music
Acoustic and low
As heard in a quiet bar
After a filling meal

What I am is a small stage
Ambient lighting and atmosphere
A stool and a microphone
A gentle hello and welcome

What I am is applause
Appreciation of an original piece
Lovingly composed
And dedicated to no one but you

Really great, I like the symmetry and comparisons, very nuanced and holds back, leaves a good feeling.

Dendrite, thanks very much for your comments. Hopefully, it also fits in with the Inspiration Point challenge as well.

I think it definitely fits the IP challenge. I liked it very much - especially the first three stanzas - excellent.

An excellent rise to the IP - it's not meant to be a challenge, it's meant to be Inspiration!

Tony, thanks very much for your comment and the cherry.

Inspiration can happen for anyone but the challenge is whether said inspiration can be put to good use.
