You fuckin’ wrecked me;
you took my generous heart
and trampled it the fuckin’ mud
of your insecurities
then you fuckin’ wrecked me.
I ran your fuckin’ gauntlet,
I pissed on your fires,
stamped on the hot coals
of your sordid past
still you fuckin’ wrecked me.
You fuckin’ wrecked me;
you broke my generous heart
and kicked it round in the gutter
of your obscene lies
then you fuckin’ wrecked me.
You took my favourite songs,
adopted all my phrases,
stuck them in your safe
of unbridled bitter envy
as you fuckin’ wrecked me.
I lit your fuckin torches,
I drew your cursed maps,
dragged the diseased waters
for your fetid treasures
while you fuckin’ wrecked me.
You fuckin’ wrecked me;
you took my generous heart
wrung out all the good,
left a shrivelled aching lump.
You fuckin’ wrecked me.
So can you please explain
why I still love you so much?

Certainly no 'beating about the bush' with this one Dynamaso and I hope you will forgive my 'unintended' pun;-)
The ending clinches it, perfectly.

Thanks Tina. I was a bit unsure about this as it is pretty crude, but in this instance, I hoped readers would see past it to the piece as a whole.

Not just 'Spoken Word', this one would be an 'all join in', don't know why, but Johnny Cash springs to mind. Good read atb lena xx

Agreed - it sounded like a song to me!

Lenchenelf, I had intentions of it being a song, at one point but rather than Cash, I was thinking more along The Black Keys line - you know, dirty, raw blues. However, Johnny Cash works for me too.

Thanks Tony. Might have to see if I can come up with some music for it, then.

- love this stanza, Mark! Those last lines are heart-breaking but have been felt the world over :(

Magic, well spotted! My favourite stanza too. And as you say, heartbreak knows no borders. Thanks for commenting.

This is really different, and I like it. This is angry, comic, forceful and ultimately quite touching. Nice one Mark.

Thanks mate, much appreciated. I'm trying to work out a piece of music to accompany this - once I do, I might even post it on ABCTales Radio. Will let you know if I do.
