Père Lachaise

We walked amongst the crypts
Under a blue October sky,
We peered into open, cracked tombs -
As dishevelled as my clothes -
We saw empty beer cans and plastic bags

I took your picture whilst you walked
In between magnificent graves,
Reminded by the tributes and names:
Each have lived and loved -
In their own way

Underneath all this, your wisdom entwines a sense of dignity to your foresight.
Nice to be taken back there.. Thanks..

This is such an extraordinary place - but you have done far more than describe it or even describe the emotions it conjures up. An excellent poem - congratulations.

I like this very much. This particular cemetary holds memories for me too. I've used it in a poem myself, although I'm reluctant to post it here as it's too personal. And not as good as this.
