If the winter loved me
As you protest
Do you not think it would shelter me?
Instead it breathes on me
It hands me an icy pilgrimage
To wake with every day
And it loves me?
Is that what you say?
Pardon me
Pardon my disbelief
But my friend
I’ll give you this one relief
Winters one good invention:
Precipitation:
Rain
Snow
All go and turn into:
Ice!
The ice is brilliant for skating on
The hills are good for sliding down
And I have to say I never frown when someone falls to the ground
But winter doesn’t love me
It frustrates the clouds above me
It makes the ground beautiful for a while
But the bad health it brings is ugly
My friend
Winter doesn’t love me
