from the ABC set The Long and the Short of It...

See me, am Ah no' gallus, but?
Whit d'ye mean, naw?
Ye're naw sae bonny, yersen,
Ah dae see mauny cocks
crowin' around ye, hen!

Izzit a drink yer wantin'?
Whit? Tom Cawlins?
Aye right, doll, awfy dear tho'.
Hev' ye had a few
swallies tae help ye go?

Whit d'ye mean Ah kin whistle?
Ah'm wastin' time.
Ah thawt y'ed be fair gantin'
awn a braw yin like me.
Yiz need a guid scots plantin'.

Great stuff. I know it's scots dialect(?!), but the first thing I thought of as I was reading it was Russell Hoban's Riddley Walker. Think it was the line 'Ah dae see mauny cocks' that did it.
