A Night in Necropolis

from the ABC set Poems For Cyril

Catafalque,
Sarcophagus,
body in a box:
sleep in the old crypt
- after picking all the locks.
Skeletons,
chimeras,
roaches in the gloom,
whistle up the devil
and he'll light up the room.
Petrified,
but quaking,
shadows lie in pools.
Wait until the daylight
and the fiery furnace cools.
