Preston Urges

from the ABC set

Listen,
it's time to stop with
being serious.
Go watch
Sullivan's Travels,
you'll see what I mean.
Let's let
our hair down, maybe
even shave it off.
Tell your
direst foe stupid
jokes 'til you like him.
Laughter
is so much louder
in the dark. Don't think
you can
change what you can't:
you're no politician.
Watch Tom
lose to Jerry; that's
the order of things.
Either
you laugh at crises,
or you drown in tears.
No-one's
reading Kierkegaard,
only Comic Cuts.

Well since you ask I don't know either. Maybe Jerry Springer has got it right?

Jerry Springer? Hell no, I meant the mouse.

I think this is great. I would prefer it if the last three lines were incorporated...ie, because no-one's reading Kierkegaard, only Comic Cuts. It would read better to me, but I don't suppose it matters much.

Hmm... perhaps it's less obvious like this. That's a good thing. Thanks for reading. Congrats on your latest cherry, that poem was a cracker.

Yes, that works just as well. And thank you, funny how these things work, I was in two minds about the whole thing.

A 'because' would have suggested exegesis. Ewan likes to make us work a bit.

Brilliant! Not wanting to appear sychophantic, but anyway, you inspire me, Ewan. The title alone is gold.
