Questionnaire

“What? A survey? I don't think... Books, you say? I'm not giving you my e-mail or anything, you know.

"Just my opinion? Okay, go ahead. Cloud Atlas? What's a Cloud Atlas? No, I haven't read it. What's it about? Is it science-fiction or something? You're kidding!

“I hate that stuff. You know, the clever-clever-look-at-me-I-know-a-big-word-stuff. Who's going to read it, if there's a word every five lines that nobody ever uses? Nobody I know anyway. If you don't need it to feed, fight or – well you know what I mean - you don't need it at all, right? Oh yeah, those types always say “why don't you look the word up in a dictionary?” Who the hell has a dictionary nowadays, anyway? I suppose I could look it up on the net, but why? Life's too short, isn't it? If these people can't write so I understand it - well it's just crap, that's all.

“It's just like at school, those pricks at the front, always sucking up. Me, sir! Me, sir! Just 'cos they knew the answers, wankers. Different in the playground though, wasn't it? Yeah.

“What's that? Read? What kind, you mean? I like a good yarn. The last one? Um, well I started that Da Vinci Code, but I lent it to someone. Can't remember, actually. I usually read magazines. People with a proper job don't have time, do they?

“Which magazines? Look, sorry, got to rush, Miss. I haven't got all day to answer stupid questions.”

I like this piece. It says everything about modern life and lifestyle, the dumbing down of culture and arts in the face of business efficiency. People who don't read books probably do get on better in careers.

Clever but definitely a minority taste ;)

I get where you're going with this.
I guess he's a new era Tory voter.
Mind you I can't blame him for not reading Dan Brown's load of poorly written crap (and yes I'm jealous he got away with it!!).

I'm jealous too... This guy's reasons for not reading Mr Brown's books are probably different to yours and mine.
