There's a bone
in a cat's penis, or tiger's
and, indeed, the walrus has one too.
There's a bone
in a pig's snout, a figure
eight, maybe it's infinity though.
There's a bone,
the narwhal's spiral, seed of myths
as daft as unicorns would be.
And there's a bone,
in a stag's heart, so proving
that broken hearts are possible still.

Your description to this poem was really interesting, I'm not sure entirely if I've grasped the concept of two versions of a poem. I do really love your use of animal imagery from domestic to mythical. The last line to me is really perfect.
