The Universal Backlot Wedding

from the ABC set The Long and the Short of It...

When Dracula married the Wolfman,
Bud Abbott was a boorish best Man:
Barrymore was in charge of the punchbowl
and Costello the seating plan.

Karloff lisped one of the lessons,
while Bela shot up in the can:
Barrymore played the preacher
then lit out for Feliz, Yucatan.

It wasn't a chemical wedding;
just a party in Hollywoodland
with lalique on every table
for the coke that arrived with the band.

The Mummy cried at the speeches,
and embraced Herr Frankenstein's bride,
an old gypsy gave out a warning
and played violin on the side.

Arbuckle was playing a waiter,
the only gig he could get;
if only he'd d r u n k from the bottle,
he'd be starring with Barrymore yet.

James Whale directed operations,
declaring it wasn't his worst.
Lupe Velez drank too many cocktails
and died in the porcelain head-first.

The Enquirer's wedding photographer
shot it in black-and-white,
Carl Laemmle siezed the camera
exposing the film to light.

After the party was over,
the lot was destroyed, in a mess,
but sure it was darn successful,
there wasn't a single arrest.

still can't suss out italics/bold etc. I get them turned on but can't get them off. (Ooer Mrs!)

'drunk' should be in italics.

I liked this, could picture it. It had a surreal quality that I appreciated.

Re getting them off, ho ho ...I have received instruction in this twice so should remember and you need to "/cite" except "" should be <> to close italics and same for strong. I had this issue with Low Tide and kept putting the whole poem in bold...but someone helped under that poem in a comment.

Nope, couldn't turn them off

how would the line look in the editor..?

Ewan, I really liked this too.

As for using the text tags, it is a bit hard to show an example. To use HTML tags such as em, strong, etc., put the tag in these brackets <> at the start of the text and the end of the text making sure you put a / in front of the end tag.

Hope this makes sense.
