Dropped a pebble in your waters:
I waited while the ripples came back.
Winked a secret in the silence,
you smiled with eyes turned black.
Kissed a teardrop from your cheekbone-
more followed and your lips turned blue.
Bruised the blood into your cold lips:
some loving is what saved you.
Hid a lovenote in a bottle,
hoped for ripples to catch,
awaited a homecoming, grieved, while someone
lit three candles from a tallow-tired match.
