If only I were deceitful,
I'd make things up to say.
I'd tell you about milestones
in every momentous day.
But my life isn't like that,
it's just boring; all the same:
there are no meaningful moments
to set the world aflame.
My shallows are not hidden
-you see them plain as day-
there is nothing I am hiding
and this means what it says.

Imposter syndrome - usually afflicts the young before they realise that everybody else is an imposter too. Maybe the secret of success is to be the best imposter you possibly can. You can never be happy as long as you believe that some people are the 'real thing'. Da Vinci? Bloody imposter. Hawking? Who do you think you're fooling?

Yes, but what if you're passing yourself off as yourself?
Or maybe the simple things you see are all complicated?
You think my shoes are made of leather.

You need a nice holiday, m'dear. My brother has just been flotilla sailing for a fortnight. Now he thinks he's a sailor. Maybe the real trick is being able to fool yourself?
I've always thought I got someone else's life by mistake. I wonder who got mine? I have to pass myself off as Footsie even though I'm convinced I'm someone much better. Footsie can be a pain in the arse at times.
