To the sun

from the ABC set Reflections

The sun shines
through the window of my heart ,
illuminating truth
and warming my dreams
With vivid , technicolour reality
Though you are far away
I draw you closer
with every breath
You flicker
through my thoughts
A kaleidescope of emotions
Ripple across every muscle in my body
I am washed up
on the shore of life
Turning in the tide
Pulled back and forth by those I love
Weak from my unrest
The bittersweet taste of wasted opportunity left on my cracked lips
Like the salt of a cleansing wave
I wash
yet remain soiled
I sing
in my silence
I drown
In my freedom
Whisperers
Cold , Calculating
seek out my every move
Pre-empting any happiness
With barbed venom
The only hope lies in stillness
Not moving
Listening
To breath
To space
Slowly in and out
Calmly I return
To the dawn...
Of a bright new day
To the sun...
relentlessly shining
behind the blackened clouds
of life's toil.

A truly uplifting poem, Firebird, which has given me the impetus to get on with my daily grind. Much enjoyed. These lines especially:-

"The only hope lies in stillness
Not moving
Listening
To breath
To space..."
